Red Shoe Ball 2018

Brief

Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) New Zealand supports families when their child is in a hospital away from home.

The Ronald McDonald House® and Ronald McDonald Family Room® programmes take care of the practical things in life so families can focus on their child staying in a hospital away from home. In 2018, we provided more than 4,300 families across New Zealand accommodation and support free of charge. This helps to relieve stresses like paying for a place to sleep near the hospital, organising family meals and needing a friendly ear to listen on tough days.

Simply, we give families with a hospitalised child what they need most — each other.

The Red Shoe Ball is an annual event hosted by RMHC to raise the money needed to continue its crucial work.

Activity

2018 was the ball’s tenth anniversary. To honour the amazing work RMHC had achieved across the decade, Mango designed an event around the theme of “reflections”.

Silver models greeted the almost 500 guests on arrival who were invited to take their seats by the Topp Twins, New Zealand’s iconic entertainers who later ‘assisted’ with the live auction. Inside an installation showcased stories and quotes from those whose lives had been helped by RMHC.

The night included a silent and a live auction, comedy and music acts. In all a staggering $250,000 was raised, the most in its 10 year history.
