Something BIG was afoot this summer and it had Big Mac written all over it. Literally. 

McDonald's kicked off the New Year right by offering Kiwi beach-goers some truly unique merchandise: Big Mac Jandals. These one-of-a-kind flip-flops were designed to look just like their namesake, complete with layered soles and sesame-seeded straps. 

To make Kiwi holiday-makers aware of our road trip, we got media and influencers on board with their own jandals delivered in custom clamshell burger boxes. The feedback was overwhelmingly "I'm loving it!"

Next, we took our tasty thongs to beaches across the North Island via a 1970s VW Kombi transformed into the McDonald's Big Mac Jandal Boutique, complete with giant replica. 

Crowds awaited the Kombi at every stop, queuing up to get their feet measured and their jandals fitted along with a free choc-top ice cream voucher to sweeten the deal and complete the classic summer look. Over 5,300 jandals were given away over four locations and two weekends with more via social media and radio giveaways. 

All in all, Mango and Macca's ensured that Kiwis put their best feet forward into 2019 this summer.
